Irvine’s professional career commenced as a junior at DDB Needham, where he spent 33 years and gained an extensive portfolio of business expertise. Starting in media planning and buying, he climbed the ranks to become Media Director for Sydney and National Campaigns. His dedication and talent led him to the position of General Manager, and ultimately, Managing Director. During his time there, Irvine was instrumental in launching McDonald’s in Australia, a pivotal moment in the fast-food industry.

Entrepreneurial Ventures: Gloria Jean’s Coffees

In 1996, Peter Irvine took a significant step into entrepreneurship by co-founding Gloria Jean’s Coffees with business partner Nabi Saleh. Their first coffee house opened in November 1996, marking the beginning of what would become a franchise phenomenon. Under their leadership, Gloria Jean’s grew to over 500 stores and kiosks across Australia and more than 1,000 locations in 39 countries worldwide.

In 2005, Irvine and Saleh acquired the international Master Franchise brand, along with supply and roasting rights for all countries, further expanding the company’s reach and influence. Gloria Jean’s Coffees distinguished itself in the industry, winning multiple awards, including the PricewaterhouseCoopers Excellence in Franchising – Franchisor of the Year Award in 2005, National Retailer Amex Supreme Retailer of the Year 2006, and numerous other accolades.

Speaking and Authorship

After selling Gloria Jean’s in 2014, Peter Irvine transitioned into public speaking, sharing his insights on business success and customer service. He has inspired audiences worldwide, providing tools, encouragement, and expertise to businesspeople across various events.
